Indigenous Marathon Project
The Indigenous Marathon Project is a SmartStart for Kids!TM project that is proud to contribute to improving the health of Indigenous youth and their communities.
The Indigenous Marathon Project identifies young indigenous men and women with a natural running ability to train for and run the New York Marathon. They complete a Certificate III in Community Recreation (Indigenous Healthy Lifestyles) and become role models and leaders within their families and communities.
The Indigenous Marathon Project hopes to inspire the rest of the nation that anything can be achieved if given an opportunity and the benefits of living an active, healthy smoke free life. For more information please visit www.themarathonproject.com.au and sign up to our newsletter
Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group
Founded in 1986 the ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group provides financial assistance and emotional support to cancer patients and their families. A non profit organisation the group relies on fundraising, community partners and the generosity of businesses and the local community.
The Group helps ease the emotional and financial burden of cancer related illness mainly by stepping in and relieving the families of the additional stress of finding funds for such things as travelling expenses, electricity, gas, telephone, medication, patient accommodation & food.
As well as providing emotional and financial support, the Group also provides outings for families, equipment for use by various Oncology related Hospital Departments and the communities that we assist through Palliative Care or Home Nursing Care. For more information see www.actemcsg.org.au
