Date: Saturday, February 20, 2010

Time: 10:15 am - 11:00 am

The Robert de Castella Invitational will be one of the feature races of STROMLO. The event will see Australia’s top junior and senior distance runners line up for their chance to win part of over $12,000 in the race over 7.5km. The race will feature a unique combined male/female handicap race where the female junior, male junior, female senior and male senior competitors will all start in separate groups at set time intervals based on 5000m and 10,000m Australian and World records. The breakdown in prize money is listed below and as you can see the majority of the prize money will be awarded for overall finishing position in this combined race format.

Additional cash prizes will be awarded for a State versus State competition where the finishing times from 2 male and 2 female athletes will contribute to an accumulated state team time. Teams will be formed from ACT, VIC, NSW, and QLD with a further team comprising athletes from all remaining states (i.e. WA, SA, NT, and TAS).

Travel assistance will be provided for up to 15 athletes, so please contact Lennon Wicks if you are interested in competing in this event.
